The forlane (also spelled furlane, furlana, friulana, forlana) is an Italian folk dance often credited to the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It dates at least to 1609, and became popular in the mid-1780s. Johann Sebastian Bach incorporated a forlane in his first orchestral suite.
